Gashouse Brands is an Miami-based cannabis brand that has made a name for itself in California’s legal marijuana market. The company’s co-founders, Felix Murry and Kingston, have built a brand that is coveted by consumers and respected by industry leaders. The brand’s signature strain, Pluto, has even been mentioned in several hip-hop tracks, further solidifying its reputation.

Kingston, Gashouse’s co-founder and master grower, started growing high-end cannabis in suburban homes outside of Atlanta more than a decade ago. He was passionate about growing herb organically and creating potent new strains of marijuana, which earned him the attention and patronage of celebrities and professional athletes. When nightclub and entertainment industry veteran Felix got his hands on some of Kingston’s herb through a mutual friend, he set up a meeting that would change both of their lives.

Together, Felix and Kingston worked to bring Gashouse’s clandestine cultivation operation out of the shadows and into the regulated arena. After settling on the name GasHouse to honor Kingston’s proprietary strains of weed with pungent aromas reminiscent of diesel fuel and spice, the pair set to create their image. Armed with a recognizable brand, they were able to establish themselves as medicinal cannabis cultivators in Oregon in 2014.

Gashouse’s reputation continued to grow, and in 2018, the brand moved its headquarters to California, where the largest regulated cannabis market in the world was established. With intense competition from deep-pocketed corporations that have entered regulated cannabis on a national scale, putting together a winning combination of resources necessary for a viable brand takes a lot more than it used to. Despite the challenges, Gashouse’s success has allowed Felix and Kingston to give back to their community, mentoring young entrepreneurs working to make their own impact on California’s regulated cannabis economy.
