Statis, the Bronx’s First Legal Cannabis Store, Makes Historic Debut Today

In a few hours  July 6, 2023, the Bronx celebrates a landmark event with the opening of its first legal cannabis store, ‘Statis Cannabis Co.’ This significant occasion, marked by a grand ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolizes the fruitful collaboration between the minority and woman-owned cannabis company, Statis, and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY).

The Bronx’s Cannabis Milestone: Inauguration of ‘Statis’

Today’s grand opening at 817 E. Tremont Ave will be a momentous event. Prominent figures such as DASNY’s President and CEO, Reuben McDaniel III, New York Office of Cannabis Management’s Executive Director, Chris Alexander and Bronx Borough President, Vanessa Gibson, will be gathered to witness the Bronx’s first legal cannabis store’s inauguration.

Angel Turuseta, a social equity applicant, and Statis co-founder expressed her gratitude, saying, “We are grateful to DASNY, the New York Office of Cannabis Management, and Governor Hochul for this incredible opportunity. We look forward to expanding our footprint and reaching more New Yorkers soon.”

Emely Chavez, another Statis co-founder and a school teacher, commented on the launch: “Statis will provide life-changing treatments and livable-wage jobs in the community. We also look forward to hosting educational community events that bring our community together and give back to the people of the Bronx.”
