Cannabis vodka is the latest infused beverage to hit the market, and it’s easy to see why. As more and more areas legalize cannabis, people are finding new and exciting ways to incorporate this plant into their lives. But what exactly is cannabis vodka, and how is it made? In this article, we’ll explore the ins and outs of cannabis vodka, including what it is, what’s in it, and how to make it yourself.
What is Cannabis Vodka?
Cannabis vodka is a type of vodka that has been infused with cannabis. Typically, this is done through a tincture, which is a concentrated liquid extract made by soaking cannabis in alcohol. It’s important to note that cannabis vodka doesn’t contain actual cannabis leaves or seeds, but rather the flavor of the cannabis is infused into the vodka.
One thing to keep in mind is that while cannabis vodka is infused with cannabis, it won’t get you high. THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis, must be activated through heat, such as smoking or baking with weed. Cannabis vodka is simply infused for its flavor.
Euphoria Cannabis Vodka
While most cannabis vodka doesn’t contain actual cannabis leaves or seeds, Euphoria cannabis vodka is an exception. Made in the Czech Republic, this unique beverage is infused with cannabis sativa leaves and seeds, which helps keep the cannabis flavor potent in the drink. Euphoria’s cannabis vodka has an alcohol content of 38% by volume and is one of a kind. The company also makes other cannabis-infused beverages, including gin and absinthe.
Making Your Own Cannabis Vodka
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can try making your own cannabis vodka at home. Here’s how:
- Decarboxylate your cannabis: This process involves heating your cannabis to activate the THC. You can do this by placing your cannabis on a baking sheet and heating it in the oven at 220°F for 30-45 minutes.
- Make a tincture: Mix your decarboxylated cannabis with high-proof alcohol in a jar and let it sit for a few weeks. Strain the liquid through a cheesecloth, and voila – you have a cannabis tincture.
- Mix with vodka: Add your cannabis tincture to a bottle of vodka and shake well.
It’s important to note that making your own cannabis vodka requires caution and knowledge. It’s also illegal in some areas, so be sure to check your local laws before attempting to make it at home.
If you’re looking to try Euphoria cannabis vodka for yourself, you may need to travel overseas to do so. Currently, Euphoria cannabis vodka is only available in the Europe, To, all my friends at Spannabis, you can get a bottle here. However, as more and more areas legalize cannabis and infused beverages, we may see cannabis vodka become more widely available in the future.
Traveling Overseas With Cannabis Vodka
In a bizarre incident from back in 2013, a young woman found herself in hot water after purchasing a bottle of cannabis vodka called Cannabis White Widow from an airport duty-free shop while traveling to Malta. Fast forward to 2023, and we can all have a laugh at her expense (don’t worry, she’s fine now!).
The woman was fined around $500 and ordered to pay court fees for breaching drug laws, but the court acknowledged that she had made a genuine mistake. She was misled by the fact that the bottle was being sold at an airport, and she didn’t realize she was breaking the law.
She produced receipts in court to show she had bought the bottle and other items from Prague airport and insisted she did not know she was doing anything illegal. To be fair, she thought the vodka would just be cannabis-flavored and not actually contain the real stuff. She didn’t think a product featuring cannabis would be sold openly at an airport!
The bottle label did feature an image of the cannabis plant, and experts testified that it contained the prohibited substance Tetrahydrocannabinol. Oops! In the end, the woman was cooperative with the police and had no criminal record, but she still had to pay up.
So, if you’re looking to try cannabis vodka for yourself, be sure to check the laws in your area before purchasing any bottles. And if you’re traveling, make sure to read the labels carefully – you never know what might be lurking inside!
