Kush & Kemet will source its cannabis products from state-cultivated farms upstate. Ford and Charlemagne have yet to announce the location of their Life Camp dispensary, but it is expected to be in either Manhattan or Queens. Finding the right location is critical, as dispensaries must adhere to strict regulations regarding proximity to schools, places of worship, and other establishments.
Community Pushback and the Importance of Dialogue
As the cannabis industry grows, some communities have expressed concerns about dispensaries in their neighborhoods. For instance, Harlem’s West 125th Street Business Improvement District (BID) is opposing a dispensary across from the Apollo Theater.
