Dual Licensing System
Recreational marijuana sales commenced on July 1 through existing medical cannabis businesses that obtained dual licenses. This allows them to operate in both the medical and adult-use markets, further expanding the scope of the industry.

Equity applicants must own at least 65% of the business and meet specific residential or educational criteria. The state Department of Commerce has begun accepting applications for $40 million in grant funding aimed at social equity applicants. This fund also supports existing medical marijuana businesses in converting to dual licensees.
