NDICA And DoorDash Tackle Food Insecurity In Los Angeles With New Partnership

Beginning January 3rd, the NDICA and DoorDash, partner “Giving Tuesdays” with “Project DASH” to deliver weekly groceries to eligible LA residents from food-insecure communities.

According to the USDA, in 2020 more than 38 million people, including 12 million children in the United States lived in Food- insecure households.

It is estimated to that 1 in 5 of people in Los Angeles County faces food insecurity.

Food security is the measure of the availability of food and individuals’ ability to access it. Food insecurity—the condition assessed in the food security survey and represented in USDA food security reports—is a household-level economic and social condition of limited or uncertain access to adequate food. Hunger is an individual-level physiological condition that may result from food insecurity.

The National Diversity & Inclusion Cannabis Alliance has been working with the LA Regional Food Bank to provide groceries since the beginning of the Pandemic from 2-4 PM on Tuesdays every week. Local residents of the 8th District come weekly to NDICA’s head quarters and pick up their grocery boxes that, include water, fresh vegetables, frozen meats, bread, and can vegetables from places like Ralph’s, Whole Foods, and Amazon Fresh.
