NDICA and Dorsey Academy Secure Pioneering California State Community Reinvestment Grant

Focal Point: Elevating Marginalized Communities Through Cannabis Industry Grants

A Milestone for Cannabis Equity

In a momentous decision, the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) announced the awarding of a specialized grant to the National Diversity and Inclusion Cannabis Alliance (NDICA) and the Norris Dorsey Academy of Entrepreneurs. This isn’t just another grant; it’s a testament to the changing landscape of cannabis business involvement in community upliftment.

Funding the Fight for Social Justice

Derived from cannabis tax revenue under Proposition 64—the Adult Use of Marijuana Act of 2016—the grant capitalizes on funds from the California Community Reinvestment Grants program. The program’s purpose? Redirecting revenue to communities that bore the brunt of the War on Drugs.

A Synergistic Alliance: NDICA & Norris Dorsey Academy

For more than three years, NDICA and the Norris Dorsey Academy have partnered to offer transformative services to marginalized communities. Bonita Money, Founder of NDICA, states, “This grant accelerates our social equity and justice initiatives across Los Angeles and the nation.” The grant aims to boost various programs, from workforce development and vocational training to cannabis education and legal expungements.

Vision of a New Tomorrow

Dr. Norris Dorsey, the Academy’s Founder, expresses equal enthusiasm. “Our goal is to equip those impacted by the War on Drugs with educational and entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to become contributors to their families and communities.”

What’s Next?

Already with a packed calendar through June 2020, the partnership is keen to expand its outreach programs. The funding ensures they can build upon their momentum, enabling participation at both cannabis-focused and mainstream events.
