Nicki Minaj’s Amsterdam Concert Cancelled After Marijuana Arrest

Introduction

Nicki Minaj’s fans in Amsterdam faced major disappointment when the rapper’s second concert in the city was abruptly cancelled. The cancellation follows Minaj’s arrest at Schipol Airport for marijuana possession, causing a significant stir among her fanbase and the media.

The Arrest Incident

On May 31, Nicki Minaj was detained at Schipol Airport after customs officials discovered marijuana in her luggage. The rapper captured footage of her arrest on Instagram Live, sharing her frustration and disappointment with her fans. She also took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her anger, alleging that the incident was racially motivated and an attempt to sabotage her tour.

Minaj wrote in a since-deleted post, “They’ve been trying to stop me from coming to every show. They took my bags before I could see them. Put it on the plane. Now saying they’re waiting on customs. This is what it looks like when ppl are paid big money to try to sabotage a tour after all else failed. Everything they’ve done is illegal.”

Police Response

The Dutch police dismissed Minaj’s claims of racial motivation. A spokesperson told the BBC, “We arrested her when we found dozens of joints in her luggage. The lady was released four hours after arrest in consultation with the public prosecutor, and after paying a fine.” Minaj was fined 350 Euros ($380) and released after a brief detention.

Concert Cancellation

Following the arrest, the second concert of Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 World Tour in Amsterdam was cancelled. Dutch promoter Mojo announced the cancellation on their website, stating, “Due to the events of last week, the Nicki Minaj show on Sunday, 2nd June at Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam will no longer be taking place. Tickets will be refunded at the point of sale.”

Fan Reactions

The cancellation left Amsterdam Barbz devastated. Fans took to social media to express their disappointment and support for Minaj. Many shared their frustration over the incident, while others speculated about the reasons behind the arrest and its impact on the tour.

Nicki Minaj’s Response

Minaj, known for her candidness, did not hold back her emotions. She described the experience as “disgusting” and emphasized her feeling of being targeted because of her race. Her outspokenness on social media platforms has always been a hallmark of her interaction with fans, keeping them engaged and informed.

Conclusion

The cancellation of Nicki Minaj’s second Amsterdam concert underscores the challenges and controversies that can arise during international tours. While fans are disheartened by the turn of events, Minaj’s resilience and determination to continue her tour remain evident. The incident has sparked conversations about racial bias and the treatment of celebrities, adding another layer to the narrative surrounding Minaj’s global influence and the music industry’s complexities.
