NJBAC’s Cannabis Training Academy: Tauhid Chappell as Executive Director

A New Era of Inclusive Growth: NJBAC Introduces Tauhid Chappell as Executive Director of the Cannabis Training Academy

In an exciting development for the burgeoning New Jersey cannabis industry, the NJ Business Action Center (NJBAC) has named Tauhid Chappell as the inaugural Executive Director of its Cannabis Training Academy (CTA). Slated for an official unveiling in late 2023, the CTA stands as a beacon of empowerment for individuals – particularly from underserved communities, affected most by cannabis prohibition – seeking to carve a niche in the adult-use cannabis market.

The Secretary of State, Tahesha Way, succinctly expressed the mood of the day. “The appointment of the new CTA Executive Director is a big leap towards a fairer New Jersey. With each passing day, our cannabis industry grows stronger. By investing in a knowledgeable workforce, we’re nurturing an environment that fosters opportunities.”

Riding the Wave of Education: An Overview of CTA

Announced in 2022, the CTA is a no-cost initiative providing online courses for New Jersey residents aged 21 and above, keen on obtaining an adult-use cannabis license. The qualification criterion seeks to bolster social equity and extends to diverse-owned, Impact Zone, and microbusiness applicants. A panel of industry savants will impart knowledge on application procedures, legal requirements, and best cannabis business practices, fortified with live Q&A sessions.

Tauhid Chappell: Leading with Experience and Expertise

As the newly appointed Executive Director, Chappell will oversee comprehensive educational experiences, curriculum development, and establishing a robust cannabis professional network. Chappell, a veteran of the Philadelphia Cannabusiness Association and a highly respected figure in cannabis business and advocacy, is an invaluable asset to the CTA.

“I look forward to ensuring these aspiring entrepreneurs receive the resources they need to thrive in New Jersey,” said Chappell.

Final Thoughts

Penni Wild, Deputy Director of NJBAC, aptly summarizes the essence of the Cannabis Training Academy. “With Tauhid’s expertise, we will equip students with the information they need to thrive.”

The academy symbolizes an innovative approach to equitably nurture the cannabis industry, providing a platform to educate, empower, and establish future industry leaders. The CTA’s mission stands as a testament to the state’s commitment to healing the wounds inflicted on marginalized communities in the pre-legalization era.
