Red Grant Says DC’s Joint Task Force Is An Attack On Small Black Businesses

Comedian Rodney “Red” Grant is now a DC Mayoral Candidate. He is running as an Independent against Mayor Bowser and is Pro Cannabis. He wants to provide education equality, make DC an Anti-poverty city, and increase public safety and quality of life.

Grant says, “This week, the joint cannabis task force will begin inspections of cannabis-industry-related businesses, made possible through provisions in Initiative 71.”

He continues, “Unfortunately, instead of encouraging them to further integrate into ABRA’s process, the current Mayor wants to shut them down, force businesses to close, and force citizens back into the illegal drug trade.”

According to the ABRA website, these #inspections will consist of making sure edibles, and processed cannabis goods are compliant with DC Health, businesses are registered through DCRA, buildings are in code and compliant by FEMS, and related companies must pay taxes through the Office of Tax Revenue.

These businesses are given a 30-day grace period to verify the compliance of operating businesses with legal requirements. Companies in violation may be subject to a fine or other enforcement action permitted by the statutory authority of each respective enforcement agency.
