Springfield’s 6 Bricks Dispensary: Breaking Barriers and Redefining the Cannabis Experience

Last Thursday, the city of Springfield celebrated the success of 6 Bricks cannabis dispensary. Winning both “Best Massachusetts Recreational Dispensary” and “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” awards at the New England Cannabis Convention, the owner, Payton Shubrick, shared her vision for inspiring family-owned, minority-owned, and women-owned businesses in the cannabis industry.

A Trailblazer in the Cannabis Industry

Payton Shubrick, CEO and founder of 6 Bricks, not only focuses on selling cannabis and cannabis-infused products but also highlights the importance of supporting Black-owned businesses. As the first Black woman to own a marijuana business in Western Massachusetts and the third statewide, Shubrick is determined to make a difference in an industry where only 1.7% of cannabis-related businesses are Black-owned.

Striving for Equity and Inclusivity

Massachusetts was the first state to mandate an equity program, aiming to bring more members of underrepresented groups into the industry. Despite this effort, only a small percentage of the state’s licensees are from disadvantaged backgrounds. Shubrick, a graduate of the social equity program, believes that the major stumbling blocks to increasing minority ownership in the cannabis industry are financial constraints and red tape.

The Importance of Community and Education

Shubrick’s dispensary, 6 Bricks, aims to create a positive impact on the Springfield community by providing employment opportunities and educating customers about the social history of marijuana and its prohibition. Through wall art and displays, the dispensary shares a comprehensive history of cannabis in the United States, emphasizing the need for equity and inclusivity in the booming marijuana industry.

Redefining the Cannabis Experience

At 6 Bricks, Shubrick’s vision is to normalize the purchase and consumption of cannabis products. Offering private consultation rooms, customers can learn more about various strains, terpene profiles, and their effects. Infused seltzers and other innovative products cater to diverse preferences, making cannabis consumption more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Conclusion: A Bright Future for Springfield’s Cannabis Scene

6 Bricks is a shining example of what’s possible when passion, innovation, and social responsibility collide. As the Springfield cannabis dispensary continues to break barriers and redefine the cannabis experience, it inspires other entrepreneurs to persevere and succeed in this dynamic industry.
