<p>After years of setbacks, Kentucky lawmakers have finally given the green light to legalize access to medical cannabis for patients suffering from a list of debilitating illnesses.</p>

<p>Although the bill has been passed, Kentuckians with qualified medical conditions must be patient. The medical marijuana program, Senate Bill 47, won’t take effect until 2025. This delay allows time for state health officials to draft regulations and oversee the program’s implementation.</p>

<p>Under the bill, medical cannabis can be prescribed for various conditions, such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, epilepsy, chronic nausea, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
