The Smoker’s Dream 420 Festival brings together Black cannabis entrepreneurship, hip hop legacy, and one of the biggest cannabis holidays of the year.
On April 20, the smell of fresh flower, bass heavy hip hop, and thousands of cannabis enthusiasts are expected to fill the air at The Midway as the Smoker’s Dream 420 Festival returns for one of the city’s biggest celebrations of cannabis culture. The event will bring together Ted’s Budz founder Theo “Ted” Lewis, Bay Area hip hop pioneer B-Legit, and rapper and cannabis entrepreneur Berner.
The lineup represents several generations of cannabis culture intersecting in one place. While Berner remains one of the most influential figures connecting hip hop and the global cannabis industry, the presence of Ted’s Budz and B-Legit reflects the community driven culture that helped build the movement long before legalization created today’s regulated market. The event will also mark the debut of Bone Marrow, the latest strain collaboration between Ted’s Budz and B-Legit.
April 20, widely known as 420, has grown into the global holiday celebrating cannabis culture. From California to Canada and Europe, festivals, concerts, and community gatherings now take place every year as cannabis supporters come together to celebrate the plant and the culture surrounding it.
Smoker’s Dream Festival Set for April 20 in San Francisco
The Smoker’s Dream 420 Festival will take place at The Midway, one of San Francisco’s most recognizable event venues. Known for its large indoor and outdoor layout, the venue regularly hosts concerts, art shows, and cultural gatherings that attract thousands of attendees.
Presented by Black Rain and All The Smoke, the festival is shaping up to be one of the most talked about 420 events in San Francisco this year.

Cannabis events have become one of the fastest growing segments of the legal industry. Festivals that combine music, lifestyle, and cannabis culture now attract large crowds across California each year. In cities like San Francisco, where cannabis activism and hip hop culture have long intersected, events like the Smoker’s Dream 420 Festival highlight how the plant continues to influence music, entrepreneurship, and community gathering.
All The Smoke Expands Into Cannabis Culture
The Smoker’s Dream Festival is presented in part by All The Smoke, the cannabis brand connected to the popular sports and culture platform created by former NBA champions Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson.

The name All The Smoke first became widely known through the All The Smoke podcast, a sports and culture show launched in 2019 where Barnes and Jackson interview major athletes, entertainers, and cultural figures while discussing basketball, business, and social issues. The podcast quickly grew into one of the most recognizable athlete-led media platforms in sports.
Building on that success, the duo expanded the brand into cannabis through a white-label luxury cannabis line produced with Fillmoe Farms. The brand reflects the hosts’ long-standing connection to cannabis culture and their influence across sports, entertainment, and media.
By presenting the Smoker’s Dream 420 Festival, All The Smoke continues expanding its presence in the cannabis industry while connecting sports culture, hip hop, and cannabis entrepreneurship in one place.
Theo “Ted” Lewis Built Ted’s Budz Into a Social Equity Success Story
For Theo “Ted” Lewis, the founder behind Ted’s Budz, the journey from the culture to the legal cannabis market has been years in the making. Through persistence, relationships with respected cultivators, and a commitment to quality flower, Lewis has turned Ted’s Budz into one of the most recognizable Black owned cannabis brands operating in California today.

In an industry where many entrepreneurs say social equity programs can be difficult to navigate, Ted’s Budz stands out as a rare example of someone who made the system work. Through consistent product releases, partnerships with boutique cultivators, and a growing distribution network across California dispensaries, the company has built a loyal following among cannabis connoisseurs.
Another reason Ted’s Budz has become so influential is its distribution reach. While many cannabis companies focus only on cultivation or retail, Ted’s Budz built its reputation by moving high quality flower from boutique growers into dispensaries across California. Today the brand can be found in more than 300 licensed dispensaries statewide, helping bring small batch genetics from independent cultivators to shelves throughout the state.
Within California’s cannabis community, the brand is also known for collaboration drops with respected cultivators and limited strain releases that generate buzz among connoisseurs. Rather than focusing on mass production, Ted’s Budz built its reputation by spotlighting boutique growers and rare genetics.
Another factor behind the brand’s rise is the respect Ted’s Budz has earned across both the legacy and legal cannabis markets. Many companies that moved into legalization struggled to maintain credibility with longtime cannabis consumers. Ted’s Budz managed to bridge that gap by working closely with respected growers and focusing on quality and genetics rather than hype.
In California’s competitive cannabis market, Ted’s Budz has also developed a reputation as a curator of genetics. Rather than simply distributing flower, the company works closely with respected cultivators to identify standout strains and bring them to dispensaries under the Ted’s Budz platform.

Lewis says the Smoker’s Dream Festival is about celebrating the culture that connects cannabis and music.
“I’ve been waiting to work with Berner because he really pioneered cannabis branding and helped shape the industry. It’s only right we give the fans a real stoner experience by bringing the music and the culture together. And I’ve got to thank B-Legit because without him this wouldn’t even be happening. It’s always a treat when players meet, and that’s exactly what we’re on.”
— Theo “Ted” Lewis, Founder of Ted’s Budz
For many insiders, the rise of Ted’s Budz represents one of the strongest examples of Black entrepreneurship succeeding in California’s legal cannabis market, an industry where Black ownership remains rare despite the communities most impacted by prohibition.
B-Legit Brings Bay Area Hip Hop Legacy
One of the key artists appearing at the Smoker’s Dream Festival is B-Legit, a Bay Area hip hop pioneer whose career spans more than three decades.

Born Brandt Jones in Vallejo, California, B-Legit first rose to prominence in the early 1990s as a member of The Click, the influential rap group formed by his cousin E-40 alongside D-Shot and Suga-T.
The group helped shape the independent business model that later influenced a generation of West Coast artists. B-Legit also built a respected solo catalog beginning with his 1993 debut album Tryin’ to Get a Buck and later releases including The Hemp Museum and Hempin’ Ain’t Easy. Over the years he has collaborated with artists such as Snoop Dogg, Too Short, Master P, Jadakiss, and appeared on Tupac Shakur’s iconic album All Eyez on Me.
Beyond music, B-Legit has continued to expand into the cannabis industry through a collaboration with Ted’s Budz called be-la.
Together they have released strains including Neck Bones & Turkey Legs, and the Smoker’s Dream 420 Festival will also mark the debut of a new release called Bone Marrow, continuing the creative partnership between the Bay Area rapper and the Los Angeles based cannabis company.
The partnership between Ted’s Budz and B-Legit also extends into music. The two have collaborated on records together, further blending cannabis culture with hip hop. Fans attending the event will also be able to experience the creative crossover between the artist and the brand.

For longtime fans, B-Legit represents an era when independent hip hop and cannabis culture grew side by side long before legalization created the modern cannabis industry.
Berner Brings Global Cannabis Influence

Berner, the San Francisco rapper turned cannabis entrepreneur, remains one of the most visible figures connecting hip hop and the legal cannabis industry. Through his brand Cookies, he helped transform cannabis branding into a global lifestyle movement that blends music, fashion, and entrepreneurship.
Beyond music and cannabis, Berner recently released a business focused book sharing lessons from building the Cookies brand and navigating the evolving cannabis industry.

His journey has also included navigating legal disputes with former partners as the company expanded through licensing and retail partnerships across multiple markets.
Despite those challenges, Berner continues to remain active in both music and cannabis culture. His longtime connection with Wiz Khalifa, whose Khalifa Kush cannabis brand launched through Cookies dispensaries, continues to link the two artists across both industries as they prepare to tour together again.
San Francisco Remains a Hub for Cannabis Culture
San Francisco and the greater Bay Area have played a major role in shaping modern cannabis culture. From early medical marijuana advocacy to the rise of globally recognized cannabis brands, the region has long served as a hub for cultivation, activism, and cannabis entrepreneurship.
Hosting the Smoker’s Dream 420 Festival in San Francisco connects the event to that legacy while celebrating the next generation of industry leaders.
Events like this also highlight the growing influence of Black entrepreneurs in cannabis, with brands like Ted’s Budz showing how culture driven companies can thrive in California’s competitive legal market.
