Uber Eats and Leafly Partner To Deliver Cannabis In Toronto!

Ever wished you could order cannabis and have it delivered straight to your door? Starting on October 17, locals in Toronto can safely order legal cannabis for delivery. The reason behind it is a partnership between Uber Eats and Leafly. All residents 19 years and older can place an order from a licensed local cannabis retailer and have it delivered from the Uber Eats app.

The opening of a delivery platform for marijuana marks the first time that this has ever legally existed in Canada. They hope that the new system will reduce impaired driving and absorb more of the illicit cannabis market.

For over four years, Leafly has empowered the cannabis market with over 200 cannabis retailers in the greater Toronto region. Providing safe and legal alternatives to local Canadians highlights the ultimate goal behind this new choice of delivery.

Just keep in mind that you must provide ID like with an in-store purchase. The CannSell certified delivery staff must follow the local regulations even with delivery. You must order from a retailer within your delivery radius. Similar to ordering food with Uber Eats, you will receive a notification that the retailer accepted your order, and they will give you an estimated time of delivery.

Because of the tight regulations, they must deliver it with the CannSell certified delivery staff. They can’t use a third-party group to deliver the cannabis. Once the delivery person arrives at your home, they will verify your sobriety, and they will check your age with your ID as well.

Canada decided to open this new cannabis delivery platform to combat the ongoing illegal cannabis market. Even with recreational marijuana being legal in the country, the illicit market continues to account for 50 percent of the sales in Ontario. Unfortunately, 14 percent of cannabis users will get behind the wheel of a car two hours after they consumed. The hope is that Uber X Cannabis will cut down on this dangerous behavior.
