Trends: The Premier Black-Owned Dispensary in Long Island City

Introduction: Celebrating Inclusivity and High-Quality Cannabis

In the heart of Long Island City, Queens, a new chapter in cannabis retail began last week with the opening of Trends Dispensary at 27-25 44th Drive. Not only is Trends one of the first legal dispensaries in the area, it is also the first Black-owned dispensary in Long Island City. This groundbreaking venture offers daily operations from 11 AM to 9 PM, inviting both locals and visitors to explore its exceptional selection of cannabis products.

Foundations in Family and Community

Trends is a culmination of vision and resilience brought to life by the Carter family—brothers Rodney Carter Jr. and Brandon Carter, alongside their father. Both brothers, natives of Queens and advocates of cannabis education, have navigated through the complexities of cannabis legislation to secure a CAURD license, turning their past adversities into a force for advocacy and positive change.

Rodney, a fitness expert, and Brandon, a software developer, have integrated their diverse skills with their father’s wisdom to not just create a business, but to foster a movement centered on social responsibility and empowerment.

Commitment to Quality and Education

At Trends, the focus extends beyond the commerce of cannabis. The dispensary is dedicated to educating its customers about the benefits and safe use of cannabis through a carefully chosen product lineup from trusted brands like Issavibe, Smokiez, 1906, Rove, Tyson 2.0, and Chef for Higher. Each product is rigorously tested and selected to ensure the highest quality and safety standards are met.

A Hub for Social Change and Innovation

Trends has forged a significant partnership with The Housing Works Cannabis Co., renowned for its advocacy against homelessness and its support for the LGBTQ+ community, among others. This collaboration underscores Trends’ commitment to philanthropy and its pledge to donate a substantial portion of its sales to support various social initiatives, reinforcing its role as a pillar of community support.

The dispensary’s innovative approach is also reflected in its community engagement efforts, which include hosting events like elevated yoga, THC-infused massage classes, and culinary experiences that highlight the versatile benefits of cannabis.

Visionary Leadership for a Brighter Future

“Trends is more than a dispensary; it’s a revolution in how we perceive and interact with cannabis,” states Brandon Carter, Co-Founder and Chief of Operations. “We are here to provide a safe, educational environment where seasoned cannabis enthusiasts and newcomers alike can explore the benefits of cannabis.”

Echoing his brother’s sentiments, Rodney Carter Jr., Co-Founder & CEO, adds, “We aim to dismantle the stigmas surrounding cannabis, utilizing education and community-focused initiatives to advocate for the plant’s role in cultural and social enrichment.”

Conclusion: A Landmark of Progress and Pride

Trends Dispensary is not just a store; it is a beacon of change and a model of inclusivity, set to transform Long Island City’s landscape. By integrating high-quality cannabis products, educational initiatives, and community support into its core operations, Trends is setting a new standard for what a dispensary can represent in the community it serves.
